    284 questions

Quick question for you 284 users, What sort of col you using with the 162's amax/eldm?
Putting some dummy rounds together to send away to the smith for throat length and just wondering what length is practical. Will be throating it for the 162 eld-m.

Is on a tikka with LA bolt and mag so can load right out.

Also, if anyone has 3 spare cases they want to part with for dummy rounds that would be much appreciated.
Can repay in 6.5x55, 7mm08, or high fives

    Cheers
    Nick

Make a dummy round about 0.5-0.75 mm shorter than the mag, assuming there is enough bearing surface left inside the neck

My 284 (Wby Mk V ultralights) I'm running COAL at 3.100 or there abouts with 160 TMKs and 154SSTs.
    This is good for concentricity

    Ya lost me there.
How does length or bullet choice influence concentricity?

If u seat the pill too far out there is insufficient bearing surface retained in the neck, especially with a boat tail pill like AMAX.
Leads to increased risk of misalignment & poor concentricity

This info. is gold for me as I have a short action winchester with modded mag length at 3.100. Going to start with some 140's

I run mine with 162 Amax still, OAL is 3.190. Fits the LA T3 mag really well. Mine only has a 17" barrel, its shoots very well out to 600 odd yards.
