    6.5 160gr Rn

I have a friend who is wanting to use the 160gr RN in his Tikka 6.5x55
he says he has 2209 and trail boss
I'm not sure trail boss is the best to use but could be way wrong
Anyone any suggested loads for this bullet.
    Thanks.

with that type of bullet id be looking at looking at copying the military load other than that there are better bullets to use in the 6.5 my tikka prefers the lighter stuff using 123 amax at the moment but going to go to sierras as hornady has a habbit of discontinuing bullets that work well be interested to see how load development goes as I'm looking for a military load for my m38

The best of the 160gr RN is the Norma 156 gr Alaska next is the Lapua 156 gr Mega then the Hornady 160 RN Interlock, 2209 is a little fast burning for best velocity
2213 is better, ADI start load for 2209 is 40.00 max 43.00,
Trail Boss is a waste of time in a 6.5 unless you want subsonic loads
If you want to see how good 156/160 bullets are in a 6.5x55 buy a box of Norma factory ammo they really know how to load it properly

I used 42 gr of 2209 behind the 160 rn. Coal was 3.00" and produced avg 2439 fps out of my suppressed CG. Very accurate for an old man. Have not tried it in the new Tikka and probably won't.

Swedish M38 ammo was the 139 grain FMJ not the 156 RN that was the M94 carbine and M96 rifle the M96 rifle was changed in 1942 to the new bullet.
