    9mm pistol and carbine help

    Hi there
Im new to reloading pistol rounds ... I would like some input regarding powders and projectiles please

I would like to load for pistol and also for my dedicated 9mm AR15 ... which I would also like to shoot both supers and subsonic loads ... if anyone has any data,or idea's of pills n powder choice ?

Ive currently got some 124gr RN projectiles and about x50 147gr to try as subs ... I am told the heaviest I can go is 147gr , unless the bore of my dedicated 9mm upper is generous (which im not sure how to confirm this)which case I might be able to use 158gr or 180gr .38/357

I will be shooting steel and paper ... maybe the odd bunny or possum with the 9mm upper

    Any info id really appreciate

    Sean

    Hi Seano.
Heaps of good 9mm powders out there.
Choose one that's well priced and normally available. Google what's good and clean ish. I use Hi-Skor X700 in 9mm but only because I have shit loads of it and got it super cheap of Trade Me.
Bill Wright for Frontier Projectiles. 9mm Restrike 124gn Flat Points CMJ's. Try some and see what shoots best. I have shot probably 100k through pistols and about 1k through my 9mm AR15 (500 per week now). Well priced and accurate.
CCI small rifle primers. I don't bother with small pistol primers. Rather just buy and use a single type of primer. I shoot major in 38 super as well and small pistol primers fail under the pressure.

My 9mm carbine load currently is:
4.5gn Hi-Skor X700 (Meters ok but ball powders are better).
    9mm Restrike 124gn Flat Points CMJ's
    CCI small rifle primers
27.0mm OAL. Check length in your rifle. Manually put round on bolt face under extractor with upper off your lower and make sure bolt closes fully. If not seat projectile deeper.
They run about 1300 fps out of my 16" barrel.
    Medium pressure load.
    Very accurate.

    Good luck.

    Cheers Simon

Ive got some powder on its way and dies ... x1000 projectiles form "Bill" as you mentioned ive dealt with him several times in the past ... he is Excellent to trade with.
So just to confirm, your saying just use small rifle primers
Cant wait til I have all my components and can start working up some loads ... Will eventually chrony the loads, especially the sub loads ill attempt to make .

I did go up to 4.4 but for no noticeable difference in the pistol.
I probably need to play around with the carbine a bit more to see what will be really good in that, the 4gn functions fine, but haven't really had a chance to check accuracy (basically just plinked with it)

I use 4grns of AP70 at the mo and that goes good but running out.
Will start with your N320 load and see how it goes.
