Richard Wilhelm used to sell these and 110 grain .308 loose pack projectiles at prices we would not believe today[the good old days]
They shot well at 22mag speeds.

The other bulk buy at the time was Remington sp.I don't remember hollow points from them.
As for what they are back then and what the projectile field now has offer with quality control speaks for itself.
But good to get a batch of fur killers at a good price as they only have to be minute of rabbit and the likes of.
I still have 55gn Remington that I didn't find that great, but someone may get them to work better than me.
If you don't like the 40gn take some of my 55gn.
Same headache in a different basket. It's more a matter of powder then projectiles in most cases 樂although this is an elastic statement.
And hard at times to find the voice of reason in this field.

I wondered how folk would handload a rimfire cartridge. Preprimed brass clearly allows that. Something I've never heard of so thanks for that. Amazing the depth of knowledge on this forum. I have 1:12 twist in Hornet and 22-250 so lots of scope. What was the 296 charge for 3120fps please?

necking down the .22magnum to .17....how silly it would never catch on........oh hang on a minute LOL

Hogdon current data does not list a 296 load for 40gn bullets. In fact they only show one 296 load and that's for 35gn. They have an H110 load and that's also the fastest they list currently for 40gn



LilGun is meant to be the bees knees for 22 Hornet but max velocity for 40gn is slower than H110.

Guess I'll be digging through some older load data to see what I can find to get up to the 3k levels some of you guys are talking about for 40gn with 296

Yes thanks Mickey, I'm aware of all that and have used H110 data for loading 296 in the past, mostly Belmont Magnum Pistol which is also 296. Doesn't change the fact that Hogdon online current has a paucity of load data for 40gn in 22 Hornet and none for 296. They do provide data separately for 296 and H110. In this instance, 296 for 35 gn, H110 for 40gn. Keen to know what loads others have data for that give 40gn bullet velocities over 3000 fps especially with 296/H110

Don't remember the charge think I just used the data for the 40gr Vmax,
The Vmax was more accurate so I shot them most of the time then switched to a 45gr cast.

They maybe equivalent burning rate but they are not the same specially in a .22 Hornet case capacity one tenth of a grain is a lot
in that small case, It was originally a black powder cartridge after all I treat it as an improved reloadable .22 Magnum.

Yep from memory there in a 6000 bag - they were winchester 22magnum projectiles. Went really well in 223.
