    AR10 Barrel Length Ballistics

Im looking to get one of Digits NEA25 308s when they arrive shortly.
They come in 14.5" and 18". For me the 14.5" would be ideal as it will be used from the truck a lot, however, the 18" would def be superior ballistically.

It will have an oceania defence suppressor fitted.

Does anyone run a barrel that short? or if so what ballistics are we looking at?

Use will be under 300m at reds, mainly hinds.

14.5 is fine to 300m, especially with handloads.

But if your thinking short I'm guessing weight is a issue so one of the dpms gen 2's from nzrac could be worth thinking about

I was originally going to get that, but it is an extra $1000. Then suppressor on top. I wouldnt want anything heavier than the NEA (has a fecking thick barrel profile) but trading ballistics/portability is the next issue

My DPMS Gen 1 shortened to 16" and with a fluted barrel will be for sale in A-cat configuration shortly, already threaded for OD suppressor

308 responds to being shortened well. Better than a 270 or a magnum. Anything too long will be hard to handle with a suppressor. Get the 14.5

I have used 150gn superproformance out of a 15" bolt gun and decided it didn't work anywhere near as well as it did in some longer tubed guns-the fancy powder seems to need time to do its thing.

Short for caliber guns scream out for handloads
