    Need some group therepy

My vanguard 300 win mag shoots consistent groups with 2 shots almost touching and the third 1.5 ins away.
Hot or cold barrel and varied seating depth still the same. Bedding and barrel clearance seem to be ok.
    Any suggestions?

Scirrocos do the same in my rifle.
    2 and 1 splits or 3 and 2 with a 5 shot group.

What does a 5 shot group go like?

Sounds like a bedding issue but if you reckon it's good, change your choice of primer and if that doesn't work change projectile.
    It worked for me.

    Two shot groups

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

Haven't tried 5 shot groups yet.
Don't want to change projectiles I'm using 110 ttsx going really fast.
If it gets down too an inch I'll be happy.

Sorry mate i have to call this out. You re shooting what would generally be called 1.5 inch groups.

3 shots generate 3x 2 shot pairs. Two of these are 1.5" and one is <0.3".

5 shot groups are needed to reliably assess / compare precision for optimising reloads.

How does your rifle know you are about to shoot 5 and split it 3-2? shouldn't the 3rd be one that's off? Or is it 2-1 then 1-1 on top?

It's just what it does. Pretty sure 4th shot goes back into make the 3.

Tried a 5 shot group and got 2 pairs of 2 touching and one on its own in about 2 inches. I've cleared out the bedding and will do it with devcon.
One side of the lug wasn't touching the bedding when I put lipstick on it.
I think you need to get down to moa groups before you shoot long range.

    Is that at 100m?

Reason ask is, my .280 sometimes throws the odd shot like that at 100, but at 200 out to 500 it'll shoot MOA all day. I just put it down to my shooting. Haha.

I agree, I find I can consistantly shoot better (in moa) at 400 yards than I can at 100 and I'm not really sure why.

Its because you are aiming smaller at 400

Try aiming at a 1/4 or 1/8th inch dot @ 100yrds and you will see an improvement
