I had this same problem. Was poor primary extraction and a sloppy extractor.

Thanks for the replies guys it's a bit of a worry when you pay $3500 odd for a rifle and you get problems . One thing it isn't is in accurate it can shoot real good.
Yeah with primary extraction problems it should do it all the time. Primary extraction should break the case free of the chamber while moving slightly to the rear making secondary extraction easy.
Many people, when "trueing" an action, will take too much from the lugs, both in the action and on the bolt, resulting in a loss of primary extraction camming. It could be that this rifle has the lug 'looseness', but as I stated it should be showing up all the time. Hense why I suspect overpressure.
A good job and a good wife has been the ruin of many a good hunter.
@mikee son just messaged me and said the fired empty's are stuck hard when put back in. Never fired brand new brass is fine.
When sized do they then chamber and extract fine or still sticky?
Another thing it could be is the base of the brass expanding and the die not being small enough to pull it in.
Can happen with tight chambers and might explain why different brass was fine. ( said brass maybe thicker in the web and not expanding out when fired)
If it is the above there is no easy solutions.
Make a small base die out of a fl die.
Use brass of small base and thick web dimensions only.
Polish out rear of chamber larger.
I'd be going back to the point of sale for a start seeing as its a new factory rifle.

is he trimming???? only thing I can think off.....is there any marks on brass??? try felt penning a sticky brass case and rechamber it a few times and see where its rubbing...
Christensen's are renowned for having problems! Suggest he gets back to the retailer who sold it to him, and then to Christensen's to have the problem sorted.
Wouldn't hold my breath based on my experiences and I paid more than 3800 for mine and in the end paid another 1100 to another proper gunsmith to actually repair it.
Had a similar issue to the one you have.
SAUM and RUM cases have bugger all taper so primary extraction matters!! I now know more about primary extraction and M700 actions than I ever wanted too
Having said that since it was fixed I have fired another 600 rounds with exactly ..........................zero issues with extracting fired cases.
I can't help thinking while reading this that this forum is frickin unreal.
4hrs old post from moose has 25 answers.
Bloody geniuses everywhere.
Hope your son can get it sorted

Its not what you get but what you give that makes a life !!
There is a facebook group for Christensen owners so it be someone there has had this problem and may have answer . My ridgeline is superb no dramas and a tack driver but it may be a warranty issue so that might be his first port of call.
Have to agree with kukuwai awesome response from the members Many Thanks to you all. We think that maybe the brass is getting to old as its been used in his first Rum a Browning A Bolt a few times too. That's where its good to keep a record of how many times it's been fired.
We will see what happens with new brass , hopefully its not stuck hard in chamber after firing. @wayno I think the son has been on the Christensen owners on facebook for info.
Yep the abolt may have a more generous chamber and the web may have grown out to that and the CA maybe tighter causing the problems.
Reload factory ammo fired in it, if you can get 4-5 full power loads out of factory brass without problems you know its not the rifle at fault.

Ah bingo re the A-bolt. I reload two 280AIs and the Kimber has a tight match chamber. Brass used in the Forbes doesn't like being used in the Kimber. New brass, start from there.
