Glanced at one of the latest shooting mags while I was avoiding the supermarket shopping angst (is aisle rage the same as road rage but foot powered?). It had an article about reloading (amongst other things) for a T3, 7mmRM, mag length cartridge, 162gn Hornady Amax, and 74grains of preferred powder AR2225 for 3,050ft/sec. I checked in the ADI 4th edition load booklet and they quote a compressed load of 73.5grains for 2,963ft/sec.

I do use the online ADI "book" and I was talking about the 2217. Do you remember any info about this specific powder?

Hi @rupert, you are right, and i apologise for any misunderstand. I made that comment based on the info one of us put here about the ADI2217. Now follow the ADI reloading book page where everyone can see the most popular loads recommended for the 7mm Rem Mag.
Thank you and be safe always.

Thanks guys really appreciate this as I'm still feeling my way on this stuff. Especially you @Perriscacaba -totally get the safety first message just wanted to start the ladder with an idea of where some had started out and their sweetspots.

Tonight started loading starting (by these standards a long way low back at 62 grains of IMR and in .5 increments up to 64 grains as a first cut and familiarization activity. One thing I definitely noted was how full the cartridges were based on where I needed to seat to get em in the magazine and load and eject happily. Played around with gauges and calipers for a while and a dummy round to work out the optimal set up.

As I said starting out will be an interesting exercise and loving the idea of creating my own rounds and taking responsibility for their accuracy. Will let you know the results after I get to the range next. Spent Sunday working mainly on the .223's accuracy and only shot a handful of 7MM to ensure my scope was still all on the money.

Next job will be to do a similar load development for my 700 BDL which until now has just had SP 55 grain Hornadys and v-max's to feast on, and it does quite well with that and I've been preparing some brass for some 55gr Blitzkings and some ADI AR2206H that should go pretty well too.
