    Hi, thanks for your post.
I'm new to this, wondering if you have any tips or tricks you use to get bits of hair off the meat once you've skinned it? It's bloody hard! And I'm told you shouldn't wash the meat with water.
Any advice you have would be great.
    Cheers
    Sam

I brush the hairs off while rinsing under the tap. Pick any remaining hairs off afterwards.

Who told you that rubbish? - jump online and go and look at youtube posts from a country that eat lots more goats than NZers - you'll see that they thoroughly rinse all meat several times before cooking.
Check out either user "Food Money Food" or user "My Money My Food" they regularly post interesting village cookery.

Certainly don't use water if you are going to hang meat as water has bacteria and you want the meat to cure quickly rather than go off however if it's come off a goat give it a rinse and in the pot. All good!
Fark now need to get off arse and go see if some dumb goats walking about in the paddocks, i'm hungry!!

Yep. If I'm going to 'age' goat, I'll do it before washing and leave the loose hairs on. Age, THEN wash, then freeze immediately.

Bone it out in the field, be particular how you do the job, and you won't have hairy meat. Prevention is way better than the cure.

If you are worried about the hairs you can remove them with a rag rinsed out with some vinegar . The water does not have bacteria in it , the bacteria will already be there . The water will merely provide the enviroment for it to flourish .
