    Boars of Canada

I haven't been keeping up to date with the hunting scene in western Canada but apparently the 'wild boar' epidemic that has been plaguing much of the US for years has reached the frozen waste over the last few years. There is now a year-round open season on feral pigs in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba IIRC so if anyone is heading to the west try and get yourself into some pigs!

These were shot in Saskatchewan. The mounted boar was apparently over 400 lbs live weight.

I see what you mean Gibo. I think it might have something to do with the pigs stealing silage from the cattle troughs.

@linyera - Great to hear you'll be coming to Canada in 2015! I'm in a reasonably good part of the country for black bears (east coast) and there are a few outfitters in the province that I have heard good things about; one of them being Cobequid Big Game Outfitters. Their website isn't always kept up to date but I believe the $1800 combined black bear and whitetail package is still the current price.

Nova Scotia doesn't really have that much to offer in terms of scenery compared to NZ or even the west coast of Canada but the prices are pretty attractive when you look at similar packages in British Columbia! We also have a lot of great places to eat, drink and see if historic sites are your sort of thing. If you'd like to PM me and ask any other questions about eastern Canada then fire away!

That is a good name so welcome Martin. Of course we will continue to be in awe of the hunts that Linyera guides.

I have translated linyera, Linyera...it does not apply to you at all
    ...amitie, respect mutuel et amour...

...le beau et le bon, cela rime avec Breton!...
