    First blood for a newbie

As a brand new hunter I am excited for this to be my first post!

After finally getting around to applying for my firearms licence I was able to go on a deer hunt on private land down timaru way.... We found two fallow grazing away down a valley and up the next face.... The guys were good enough for me to take the shot.. I fired ........miss....doh!!! The two we shot at plus another five just over a bit took off!!

One of the others in the party was able to hit one later on which made it a successful first hunt... Apart from me missing my first shot I loved it! I'm hooked... Being up on the hill for first light and coming back down at last light and everything in between ( including banter between mates.) is something very special for a kiwi eh.....

My second time out was a bomb up on a mates farm spotlighting on a Friday night, I was able to smack over a few wallabies and possums.. It was a great chance to have some time on the trigger...

So then comes my third time.. It was a spur of the moment trip I drove back down to the same farm and we went out that night and once again hit a few possum and wallabies but we were after fallow deer... We got a small one that night.... But that one was significantly superseded by the fallow in the photo the next morning!!!!! Super stoked...great to be on the board..... Can't wait for the next hunt and getting into some knarly back country doc land!

    Well done.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.
