    Nothing concrete, just another theory.
Moon cycle is a fair bit earlier this year than last, with the full moon on 17th. It wasnt until 27th last year.
It has been so warm on the NI this year, that I struggle to believe that temp has much to do with it.
With the higher temps must logically come better food sources than usual, thus getting condition on earlier. Early full moon being a final trigger ?
Now feel free to go for the jugular. I got thick skin.

Pemgy, it sounds no worse than any other theory I've heard espoused.

Should have read, " that I struggle to believe that temp doesnt have much to do with it "

They look in great condition Muel be good eating . The 708 doing the job as I'd expect .

I always thought the roar was linked to the hinds cycle & that to the 4th full moon of the year.
I suspect they'll go quiet for a couple of weeks then get into it full noise round the week prior next full moon.
Only my theory Pengy for what it worth ,will see what the wise 1 has to add .

    Nice one well done.

My theory is the better spring and summer(we are talking stuff growing not perving at the beach) IE regular rain and warm temps light winds the earlier the hinds cycle and the earlier the stags roar.

Late winter and cold spring dry early summer equals late roar

Early warm wet spring and summer equals early roar.

Only my experience but has held true the last 25 odd years.
