    Been in the safe for many years, other than cleaning.

    Here is my long range rig. A Savage in the mighty 243Win. Happy with shots out to at least 1000m in the right conditions, in which case I'll use the bipod you can see to get about 800m closer.

    In all the country i hunt, you see plenty of deer at 400-500 yards across gullys etc, and theres no way you can get closer for a shot, and if you were to try and approach them from their side, you would never see them, or spook them long before you got there.

    Horses for courses. Long range for on he island is anything over 100m!!

    It can happen it the best of rifles, a piece of crud lodges somewhere it doesn't belong. Swap rifles and sort it later.
    The Nationals are 8 days of shooting, upto 4 rounds a day. Plenty of opportunity for the unexpected.
