Hi All, I’ve been on the forum for over 3 yrs now and finally made it to the South Island and bagged me a 8 yr old tahr with 12 inch on his best side just under on the other couldn’t be more stoked 😃
Dream trip for a Canadian guy who has hunted his whole life, to harvest such a majestic animal in an environment that was let’s say out of my element, New Zealand has left a mark on me one I will never forget !!
Now I get to travel down the west coast and maybe get a deer hunt in if at all possible we’ll see what the week brings, a big shout to my guide who wants to remain nameless he was more than just a guide he’s a great Mate !!

Congratulations and welcome to god’s own country.

Congrats on the mature bull! it's good to see someone smiling from ear to ear with their harvest and not masking their emotions for the camera. Well done

Hey moosemeat, well done, thats awesome, your grin says it all, I had a mate who came out from Edmonton, Alberta a few years ago and join our normal crew on our South Westland roar trip. He had an absolute blast and was over the top enthusiastic about every aspect of the trip, including the looong drive from Tauranga to the Cascade (Haast) the Ferry crossing the chopper flights, even the small stuff that we take for granted, like shooting roaring stags on the tops. Our crew had been doing the long trek south for about 20 years without missing a roar and was getting abit jaded and ho-hum about the whole thing, But Kevins enthusiasm was contagious. And was good for all of us to appreciate what we have here, available year around, so we actually got alot out of him joining us, and we all enjoyed the trip more. Im sure your mystery guide got a real buzz from taking you out, enjoying your success and seeing familiar country and experiences through new enthusiastic eyes.
