F/S. BSA 270, scoped and threaded

Time to move this on. BSA Monarch I believe. Someone more knowledgable will confirm. Name: image.jpg

I've had it for close to 25 years, but only put about 40 rounds through it. Unknown count before me. It used to shoot 1-1.5 inch with PMC. I can't source them anymore. I got it threaded and haven't found what it really likes yet. I have tried Highland through it, but sprayed them around. Winchester is 1.5-2. Therefore I'm classing this as a bush rifle.
I have shot an animal at 400 paces and it was bang flop. Honestly don't know if luck played a big part in it. Wouldn't attempt it at the moment, hence the 'bush' title.
Scope is a Tasco Worldclass 3-9x40.
Usual bumps and dings on stock, but is to be expected on a rifle this age.
    14 x 1 thread with protecter.
Limbsaver pad fitted. Old one got hard and perished.

I know what this rifle is capable of, but haven't the time to find the ammo it likes.
Be perfect for short range, with potential for longer stuff with development.
Looking around the $600 mark plus post
    Usual FAL requirements

No sign of any stars on it. It's got serial number starting 8P 5xxx. I've tried to google it, but can't trace it back

Monarch 2nd Pat. Good solid rifle. 1st Pat has the side of the receiver milled same as the Majestic.

There we have it. Monarch 2nd pat. I've seen them sold on TM for $6-700 bare. Not really sure what it's worth, starting here. Someone will tell me if it's to much

There a very good sound gun that have good safety features as well as nice triggers.
Actions made the old way $600 bare sounds about right, they do go for a lot cheaper in the uk. But that's only because you have to get each rifle put on your fire arms ticket which is a pain, stops impulse buying because I'd have a safe full of these. I have picked up one with set triggers for 123.00 chucked the barrel and stock and have it now in 7x57 just getting it back from the stocker when I get back from this trip

I'm bloody hoping so stock maker has taken his own sweet time I recon the bloody walnut Luke grow faster.

This would make a very good starter gun. Add new recoil pad and away you go. Even for a project rifle our refurb one I'd be in, if I was back in NZ.

I was always led to believe that the Majestic was the ultimate BSA. But they are a push feed not controlled. I have fifties vintage light weight which is controlled feed and I think it is a superior action. Super smooth.
