    Topo maps...

    Anybody got a copy of the Eyre mountains lying around? Not 100% such which one I need the area between athol and mavora. Want to actually draw an intended route on.

    Have become used to using the gps and electronic map on the phone/tablet.... And can't be armed working out how to draw on these. Don't have access to a colour printer or I'd run a few copies off the laptop

    Here in lies the problem.... Also the fact that I like full sized maps, get to re-fold them and you feel like you have moved across a mountain range

    They are like $6 each I think.

    Go here New Zealand Topographic Map - NZ Topo Map once you find where you want to go click on the map and it should tell you the name of the topo you want.

    My bad, from there type in 'eyre' in the search, select eyre mountains down the left, once there find what you want, go to more... in the top task bar and select downloads, this will now grid the country into topo maps, click on the area you want to see and it will say what map you need

    How about this.
    Downloads

    All free and for planning on the screen in the first instance, very easy.
    The topo maps may be dated, I don't know, but in the case of the terrain and features (huts, shelters) I'd imagine to be good enough (to count on) with prudent checking against local and official knowledge for the area of interest and I doubt the hill has moved much (outside of Chch or Kaikoura).
    You can zoom in/out, create tracks, tweak your track times etc.
    I had a go (for the first time) select/print then scan and here it is.... this was saved at a reduced image and file size, original was 3000x? pix and megabytes.

    edit: i checked on google photo online thingy and the ripples in the lake are really there..... lol (my printer needs more use).

    What's your address? I have a spare Eyre Peak I'll send you.

    You need Eyre Peak CD10, it should cover most of your trip. South Mavora Lake CD09 will cover you the last section up the oreti back to the road.

    @Gibo cheers, that's what I needed!!
    @JoshC thanks for the offer but got one ordered.

    Locus maps is what I use mainly for electronic ones as I can work out how to save the maps and use them when out of reception
