    My .300 Win Mag has a 26" light Palma Bartlein barrel.
    I wouldn't say going any longer would add much other than a pain in the arse.

    Does 2984 fps with 208 ELD-M and below max load of 2217.

    Throated long (3.5"OAL) to get the most out of it.

    It's not a good rifle for the hills - too heavy and too long for bashing through scrub.

    Couldn't agree more Pongo. I am opting for the 26" barrel with a number 4 contour and that way if it's too long I can shorten it and alternatively if the profile is a touch heavy I can re profile it.
