    Which Bipod Height?

Have searched the forums and the internet, still lost which Bipod height to get. Some posts suggest 6-9 others 9-13. I am 180cm, and only planning to use bipod at a range from prone position. Please help! Thanks! (Friend from america is sending it to me, so I cant try both to see which suits me).

6-9" for bench/flat ground prone shooting. Sometimes 9" on the bottom end can be slightly too high for certain shots.

Flat shooting or steep up and down shots?

Would opt for the shorter, you can always stick a pack or jacket underneath it

Depends how high the grass is really.

I've found 6-9" is good off the bench or on the mound at the range

But I've also found 9-13" is good in the field especially if the grass is long or your on a slope or rough ground.

Best advise I can give is to get one of each then you'll have the right one for you

    Cheers

I like my 13-25. Sitting shots down gullies or on steep faces awesome

If 13" too high I use my pack etc etc

I've just shooting of a bench or the at a range the 6-9 is better.
When shooting in the field, definitely go for the 9-13.
When having to shoot on uneven ground or shooting over tall grass, I always struggled with my Harris 6-9 being too short, so my 9-13 is always on my rifle in the field.

If I could only have one it'd definitely be the 9-13.

For me the Bench = The short non swivel version.
Field = 9-13 swivel with spikes and if you are going long range then the locking lever.

    But that's just me.

Thanks everyone, seems like I am mainly after 6" - 9", since I don't do any field shooting (yet atleast). Thoughts on Harris BRM model or Harris BRMS? (BRMS costs $15USD more for swivel in it)

If you get the swivel, get a locking lever too.

I seem to recall a separate discussion about where to purchase an after market locking lever in NZ. Anybody remember it? I need two

    Horses for courses

Currently have 2x Harris 9-13" swivel mounted with locks. One pops out with notches, the other pops in without notches. Both have their uses.

The things I like abt the 9-13s:

    High grass/tussock shooting
    Shooting up hill
    More options/variation with bipod position.
I find them quite good for shooting from different positions as well. But I'm sure this could be achieved with the smaller bipod.

I am currently looking at a 6-9" swivel/lock - pop out, for my new LR set up because of the following:

IMO Lower profile = better (straight) line heal to barrel. Which I believe helps make you more stable/accurate.
The lower your rifle is at the front, the less packing you will need at the rear.
You can always pack the front with a bag etc if you require more height.

I have fired a rifle with the lower profile bipod and it just felt more comfortable. You tend to be able to set the legs up on top of or just short of your cover vs forward of the cover (which I found myself doing with the 9-13").

Again, personal pref, type of shooting and shooting style is everything though.

    Hope this helps mate.
