Get a little tiny sharp screwdriver and tap one side of the stubb to turn it out. Put a drop of penetrating oil or acetone ( nail polish remover) on it and leave it a few minutes before trying.

Does the photo show its current state, or have you chewed a bit more off it since? I’d be welding a lever to the stub, has worked for me in the past.
