A 145 hammer projectile would be mint in the prc.
My saum punches them out a 3230 with no preasure signs so I imagine the prc would be faster

Funny az looking at Horny's load data for the 7 PRC, she's looking like abit of a dog looks like 180's doing 3000 with R26 is miles away, that's what they're claiming their factory stuff does

    3000 is do able in a 22 or 24" barrel I would say as I could get 2900 from a 20"

Would not bother getting too hung up on the ' My rifle must do 3,XXX fps or bust' club.

That's more of a pub/gun club boast than a measure of a rifle.

The 180 ELD-M has very good BC and if you run it between 2,800-2,900 fps your laughing.

The benefit of the PRC is being able to buy factory ammo with good bullets loaded already and barrel with the correct twist, that's it.

Same story with Creedmoor vs 260 Rem. Yes, Remington did the latter first, which still has more case capacity but came with a slow twist barrel and was not loaded from the factory with high-BC bullets.

My 7 Rem Mag is running a 180 ELDM with 64 grains RL26, have not chrono'ed it yet but recoil is relatively mild and accuracy is there, so don't feel the need it step on it any harder, as I want the ADG brass I sourced to last.

The next barrel it gets will be chambered in 7PRC.

As an experiment, I am going to rechamber in 7prc a Remington 700 7rem mag barrel, with the wrong twist, just to see how it perform with factory ammo . I ll still be able to shoot the 162’s if it does not perform with the heavier stuff.

If it's the standard Remington 1:9.25", then you'll probably get away with it if usings 180 ELDM.

Interesting that Rem Arms are offering both 7mm Rem Mag and 7 PRC in 1:8" 5R now.

Some tikkas in 243 are now coming with a 1 in 8” twist. And browning are offering some of their x bolts with faster twist as well.

This might explain a few things on Hornady PRC ammo.

I have built a few 7PRC's now that shoot several batches of factory ammo as good or nearly as good as reloads

The velocities are right up there with the shorter barrels, velocities that can't be safely matched with ADI powders

Really comes down to the rifles quality, not to mention the driver of said rifle

Light weight hunting rifles with fast twists, heavy for calibre projectiles & suppressors are extremely difficult to shoot accurately consistently

I was getting higher velocities that he was with a 20" barrelled custom Tikka 7PRC with both 175 & 180 factory ammo, guess it comes down to batches & barrels

I like the bit about 6.5PRC & Creedmoor. Barrel length has always been a major factor in FPS for .264 & below bores. The 260 (260Imp better still) is probably the most efficient bore to powder ratio of all 6.5 in terms of returns, especially in a hunting rifle. Straying from 7PRC topic but....
