I haven't tried the projectiles mentioned, but I got better groups with the 50g American Eagle than what I did with the Winchester Powerpoint? 64g.
If I recall rightly, I think the AE 50g grouped better than the Hornady brass training 55g stuff.
And yes, the WW VEX-SS has a 1:8 twist.

When I start reloading (I keep telling myself I will, maybe I'll buy a fancy Dillon 1050 press as a Christmas present instead of a jetboat) I'd like to try the 53g rounds everyone seems to rave about.

My CMMG MK4 Rce with 16" 1:7 outshoots all the Windhams at our range in bench shooting, then wipes the floor in 3 gun stages due to 2kg less weight. All stock setup except Geiselle trigger . My fast twist barrel loves 40-50gr projectiles but I can also single feed it 90gr for 400m+ steel plate shooting.
I still struggle to reload a round as accurate as the 50gr polymer tipped American Eagle stuff

I agree with above, don't bother with varmint barrels

Yes but can you beat Bruce !!
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

They have the cheapest price on the ammo around.
Apparently American Eagle = budget Federal brand?

Yeah American Eagle is under the umbrella of Federal for whatever that means

Long + Heavy barrels on ARs are terrible imo

I dont pretend to be an expert on AR15 shooting, Ive only been shooting my Windham Vex for a few weeks. See (1st AR15 kill - hunting section)
1st hunt i shot rabbits with 50gr A eagle out to 250 yds, then reloaded 60 gr nosler BT which shot just as good, 1/2 " groups and shot my 1st AR 15 deer weekend before last. Last saturday after i shot 2 reds with a 6.5x55 and 2 reds at 515 yds with my 338FX we got the WW AR15 out and shot 2 goats at 408yds (3 shots) and today it accounted for its fairshare of the rabbits add hares.
That being said, today i was thinking my Tikka T3 223 would of been more fun to carry, get out of the ute and unload after a shot.
If /when i get another one i will look at the light weight options.
I hope this helps and now im back to planing a 7mmBR or 338 whisper upper

No I'm not that good, my strength in 3 gun stages is that I'm young and can run faster than all the old guys at our range

Bernie, My load isnt special. 60gr nosler ballistic tips seated to fit mag, CCI 400 primers, ADI case and 23.5grs of AR2219. 2975fps.
Im sure a slower powder would give more speed but AR2219 drops out of my Redding BR30 powder thrower so accurately i dont waste time weighing powder chargers.
