    ProMag ar15 major crap, help.

    Anyone with ideas or suggestions.
got these 5 round Steel Promag 223/556 mags.
Seems the cant resist loading 2 rounds and seem to love jamming with the follower wedged on major angle. (with the shittiest and smallest legs)
Some reason buying followers is a no go in nz?
Short of biffing them any ideas to sort out a REALLY shit mag?

Try magpul followers. Buy them off Brownells. You may have to grind of the peened material that limits them to 5 rounds to get it to work. I'm not 100% sure if those springs will work with magpul ones, you may have to screw around a bit.

I have the flush fit promag, if only loaded with two rounds and inserted the mag a bit fast with the bolt back it would dislodge the top round. Fixed by stretching the spring to give more tension, removed the capacity stop with dremel and then easyflow/solder a small screw in to limit it to 7rounds, the mag is basically a ten shot mag body.
Have since purchased a stag arms 5shot and a aluminium bushmaster 5shot, both are better mags with better design in the feed lips and protrude a little bit out of the mag well so you can pull them out if they dont fall free. But they were more expensive than the promag.

    Cheers for the input.
I might try the follower and remove the indent,
Are followers ok to order? it seems all guns shops shit thier pants when I ask if they sell after market followers or springs.

for the muck around just get a new mag.
that one will sit around till a follower comes up cheep.

dodgy mags letting down a $2000 rifle (at least) when they are only $50 is just silly

Yea thats why i bought a couple of better mags, only use the promag last when i run out of ammo when bombing up on goats, even tho the promag has been fairly reliable.
