Really? there are literally hundreds of comments weekly on here about them. Solid, reliable, heavy, heaps of clicks
@Plinky there are quite a few guys on here with SHV now and rate them. @Tahr and @Philipo spring to mind.

The SHV 3-10 I have is great. Can't fault it and in this mag range its not heavy (19-21oz?). Reliable and good glass. Nice MOA reticle and tough. Clicks nicely. Mine gets a lot of use and abuse and has held up very well. Recommended.

Cheers. As an indication on how good the reticle and glass is, one night I shot a spiker on the way back to the truck in the dark with Brian holding a Maxtoch torch, and me over my pack at 320 yards. I used the moa reticle and held on the 3moa hash. Pure meat collecting, and on private land.

Thanks for that. Do you have illuminated reticle?
I'd just about made my mind up to order it today then realised I can get a vx6, vx5, m4, Leica, z3, for around the same money. This must be what women go through when they buy shoes.

SHV don't come in illuminated in the 3-10. It would be nice.

I have two shv 5x20 x56 one is the brand new exposed turret and the other the covered .
they have exactly the same tube and glass and as the nxs but different erector system.
I rate them extremely highly as I have plenty of exceptional glass to compare them to.
    value for money =excellent

Although I cannot comment on the SHV, I do have and have used a 5.5-22 NSX extensively in all weather conditions. I'd imagine the SHV would be similar.

The scope has been rained on, snowed on dropped and even accidentally dunked during a river crossing. It has taken this abuse and is still functioning as well as the day I got it. Currently sitting on a 7 Rem Mag with 6 bolt weaver rings and recoil has never been a problem. The clicks are positive and easy to feel even with frozen cold hands. Recommend ZeroStop as it saves confusion when returning to zero. Reticle is clear and easy to see through all magnifications and I have never seen any distortion around the edges at all magnifications. Mine is illuminated but this is something that I hardly use. If I were to purchase it again, I'd probably go for a first focal plain ATACR, but that is a personal preference only.

All in all this is probably my best scope, (although I do find my Zeiss's clearer), and I'd sooner sell the rifle than the scope.

    Hope this helps,
