What do I need in a basic cleaning kit

I've bought a rifle (Yay!) but I haven't shot it yet as I need to get eye and ear pro among other things.

A mate suggested that I get the swiss army cleaning kit from gun shitty and a pull through with patches. as well as a bore guide. I have come across frog lube and thought i'd get it as I am a little bit of a hippy. what sort of cleaners and oils does everyone use?

do I need all of this stuff or would a pull through and patches with oil be ok. and then break out the toothbrushes for when i want to use the frog lube.

on a side note. what reasonably priced eye protection is everyone using at the range? don't want to cheap out on it so not keen on z87 stuff.

I also came across these which paired with some plugs would do the job ok I reckon? https://activesafety.co.nz/nz-safety...viper-earmuffs

a lot of questions I know. thanks in advance.

One piece cleaning rod, brass jag in the appropriate size, brass brush in the appropriate size, roll of soft cotton patch fabric, tin of Eezox, bottle of Boretech Eliminator.

    Whatever decent earmuffs.

Class 5 ear muffs are minimum standard in our workplace so those should be good. What Gimp said basically for the rest. You can get a roll of 4x2 from most gun stores which is cotton cloth easily cut up into rags and patches.
Any safety glasses will be fine if they meet current standards and you are comfortable wearing them

As a basic kit when I go hunting I take a boresnake a small paint brush to clear out debris and a small can of wd40... Plenty of other bits and pieces at home if needed.
