    number 150

Just on 14 months since gumboot guiding started, this morning saw deer number 150 fall over, with more clients tomorrow who knows where the weekend will end.
Morning started at 530 heading to block
Conversation covers the usual how far can you shoot? How many have you shot etc etc.
400 yard no worries they reckon, guide smiles and thinks nice easy morning for me.
I should add the weather was shit, rain, wind, snow and penguins flying past in the clouds with snow patches still on the ground up high.
Turn of road into block and there's 10 I see in the scrub, quick stalk sees us inside 250 with the lead hind very aware we are there, bang shot goes about 1 meter high.....
Back to side buy side around next corner and there's 6 standing there bang bang bang no deer harmed, about this time guide gets a bit frustrated wishing he was at home buy the fire....
After a walk to the top of the hill eventually deer number 150 died and to make us haters hate it more it was a bloody 270.
Seen maybe 60 animals and 4 good stags with antlers still on, which seems rather late.
Unfortunately it was so cold that my pics where limited,I'll add some more tomorrow as the weather is supposedly going to be better.
Learnt a lot and seen heaps in the last 14months, seen terrific shooting out to 700 and terrible shooting at 10, all calibers kill and vortex scopes suck.
    Enjoy you weekend

    Good stuff @BRADS.
Drove past yours last night and it was horrid. Well done out in that soup. Was going to bring the spawn around to hassle you today. Maybe not

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Go the mighty 270. Ditch the vortex. The king of calibers deserves the top glass. You don't run a Porsche on steel wheels for good reason

Hi Brads. Pity it all turned to shite. But was it the scope that sucked, or the idiot client using it? or the POS rifle he/she/it was using? Just wondering....

Sorry for the confusion scope was fine, it was a vx3
    Writing isn't a strong point....
I've learnt most people can't shoot as well as they claim, and when there's 10 or more Deer in a group they seem to crumble.
The vortex reference was just something I've learnt with clients at last light......

do you have to re-stock deer numbers or do they come in from neighbouring properties?
