Photo's that just make you want to get out there hunting...

    Hi Guys,

Spring is well and truly here, and I thought a good way to get us amped for the new season would be to create a thread of some of those images that just want to lure us outdoors and headed towards the road for one of those lifetime experiences we all cherish so much.

So I'll kick it off. It's a image captured by my best mate Chris down in Wanaka at the start of Autumn last year. He's a Photographer and Graphic artist by trade, and on his one day off once a week gets out to capture some of those inspiring landscape images that the South island produces so well. He's given me the OK to share the view of this with you all as a low res shot (as the Hi def version he sells from his Gallery)... more of his images are on his gallery's The picture Lounge FB page for those interested.

So he was out one day locally setting up to shoot the top of that hill in the background and out of the scrub these Three boys popped their heads and sauntered out... Without a care in the world and hung round for a few minutes before sauntering off! To me it reminds me of growing up in the South Island at its essence....

Anyway now I've done the lead off and credits thing for Chris... I'd like to turn it over to you guys to see what inspires you about this great country to get out there....

It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

One of my favourite photos from my time in the South Island, gets me inspired to head out in the hills every time I look at it.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Yes it was 'Rushy' and all caesarean's to boot. No one else could raise them like she could. I think the problem other people has was they fed them and put them in a box and put them in the shed. Julie made them feel like they had a mother.

We only raised hinds and a year or two later we went out to the deer farm to see them all. Hell they were funny they had never forgotten their mother. Crowding around her standing on their back legs sniffing her hair and vying for attention.

Thanks 'Gibo' I will tell her you said that, she will be pleased. She was/is an attractive woman, useful too. She could tack out twenty skins an hour and make a better job than any man I knew. Good with horses to, she worked the pack horses while I shot.

Did you know David Lyes 'K95'. He was Percy's brother and no mean hunter himself. I got to know David and Val as Liveaboards
on their yacht in the Marlborough Sounds. We shared many a dram and story in those myriad of sheltered bays in Pelorous and Queen Charlotte where we would all anchor in a line pull back and run stern line to a tree. During the evening we would pull the yachts together for a party and then let them part buy tightening the stern line. Could have sat out a hurricane without discomfort.
