Well done there never owned a single shot centrefire as for running Im happy with a fast walk now

Single shot rifles work for me, bolt actions just confuse my brain

Have you run into that black polythene hut in Smith creek?

There is a couple I have seen, One decent setup was about half way between Smiths and Tutuwai.

Pi##ed myself laughing, as I'm even worse than that after 3 x day trips, and 1 x three day trip into the Tararuas.

The one I found was only about 20 minutes down stream from the bottom of the puffer, had bunks and a concrete fireplace/grill outside the hut, very well put together.

There was a trapper living about 5 mins from the bottom of puffer at one stage. Not the first place I would take all that gear to set up a camp
