    Bedford trucks

Hey all. It's anyone here a big fan of old bedford trucks?
We have one here that has been parked up for 10 or more years.
We are looking at selling it but the father in-law can't remember what model it is.
The wheel base is approx 14'
    And here is a pic.

    Who can help?

I would have thought the original cert plate would have had it on it. Could be anything from a J3-J6, depending duals on the rear, etc.

Did my diesel apprenticeship at baillie farmers motors Hastings on Bedfords.

Have rebuilt many many of them from one end to the other.

Could you please put up a pic of the engine/rocker cover and I can tell you what engine is in it.

If petrol then most likely a 300 cubic inch

The 214 petrol had rocker cover machine screws around the outside by the gasket, the 300 petrol had two large nuts spaced evenly a 1/3 way down the centre of the cover

Diesel then a 330 cubic inch, if twin inlets then a 440 diesel and it's been repowered.

It's been 32yrs since I started working on them, surprising what you remember

Met a guy in England a couple of years ago, he has a full time business buying, restoring and selling Bedfords. He said good ones are getting difficult to find now and he even retrieving from Europe. Great what population and money adds to opportunities

Size: 187.3 KBThis was my Mitsi replacement for my TK Bedford with a two speed diff, way back in the mid 1980s. The extra speed gave us a few more deliveries out of the yard everyday!Name: image.jpg

About 10 years ago a mate of mine got a J2, we painted it yellow, fitted white and black vinyl floor, stripper pole and provision for two kegs with handles etc. Was heaps of fun, so he sold it for ridiculous money and built another. Ended up on police 10/7 AND Motorway Patrol (I wasn't involved those times) on separate occasions.

They also make great campers if you don't mind being mistaken for gypsies.
