More car advice questions for the panel please

Does anyone run or just as importantly service the BMW model 335i 3 litre twin turbo.
I would appreciate knowing anything there is to know about them from people who have had experience.
Looking at 2007-2009 models Maybe 10.

The few that I have in are always for oil leaks from all manner of places. Vacuum pump on the back of the head has an O ring, shat oil everywhere after 60k, complete bastard to get to too. Another one had the stupid plastic oil filter housing dribble oil down onto the back of the ancillary belt tensioner, seals on the bearing weren't a fan, new belt, tensioners, idlers etc. Mate who is SA at a dealership says they do a lot of high pressure fuel pumps, injectors etc. Nothing catastrophic, but a pain all the same.

So you say nothing catastrophic but definitely a pain, any idea of service intervals and cost for one now 10yrs old and say 60- 80k km.

Oh all very expensive, it all adds up real quick. I hate most Euro cars, however, I'd way rather have a Beamer or Merc over a bloody VW/Audi.

You want a nice car that boots it, and isn't completely riddled with 7 year planned death? Get an is350 or Fuga or something

Have a mate with one, approx. 160,000 km now, has spent heaps on oil leaks over the last 30,000, plus new rotors.

I looked at Beemers and other euro performance cars when replacing my classic Nissan 300ZX twin turbo recently. Common advice from mechanics/owners was be very wary of any euro more than 5 years old or over 100ks - unless under warranty. Expensive to fix and also to service.

A friend just had his Audi S4 (4.2 V8 wagon) in for routine service and it cost him $650. I bought a Nissan 350Z to replace my 300ZXTT as a weekend toy, and its last service was $90.

I'd be wary of any euros 10 years old - and the 335i beemer is still only 300hp from its two small turbos. This is same hp output as the recent Nissan Skyline and the Fuga which Tommy recommends. I agree with him - think twice about the old beemer and take a look at the VQ35 V6 powered Nissans - great motor, hell of alot more reliable, go hard, and much cheaper to run. Really getting to like my 350Z - tons of power and it leaves the money in the pocket. Note my runaround driver is a Toyota Corona which like the Camry runs forever - a man has to be sensible!!

Wait til he has to do the timing chains There's a reason they aren't $200k or whatever anymore once they are getting on in years Here Fucken Euros..... no way jose

I don't think you are overly familiar with jap performance cars. This is my last toy - the classic Nissan 300ZXTT which won countless awards in its day. It was and is notable for its amazing looks, handling and performance. Mine was a classic at 28 years old, ran at 360hp, was brilliant on the road, handled superbly at extreme speeds, and topped out at genuine 275-280kph. Quite good for 1989.

Yep I had a Cosworth, quite up with the performance cars of those days, used to wax their arses !!

Just pick up a Subaru with 200 on the clock dirt cheap and thrash it!!

If you're dead set on a 335i I'd suggest getting the model from 2011 onwards as they dropped the twin-turbo N54 in favour of the single turbo N55 setup which apparently addressed many of the leaking issues.
