Yes and there is very significant differences in both strength and corrosion resistance between the grades, boat manufactures should state what grades are used on their websites so buyers can make informed decisions IMO

I wouldn't go as far as saying significant differences in corrosion mr Vietnam , 5000 series and 6000 series have different compounds , if you can imagine a 4m boat has a tighter shape in the hull you will use a 5025 series to pull in that sheet to the frames . Another example is a 9.5m naiad hull we used a 8mm still in the 5000 series to compensate for the tight V in the nose . The bigger vessels even 18m use the 5000 series also . It's all good stuff m8 I wouldn't loose sleep over grades. The idea behind aluminium is use New Zealand made stuff it's the best of the best , Chinese and Indonesian aluminium have a high copper nickel and lead content to replace the important stuff called silicone. So might pay to ask the manufacturer where they got there material

Oh yes there is, 5052 is commonly touted as "Marine grade" but even the nz manufacturer does not rate it for continuous immersion in salt water, it is also soft as butter when compared with the likes of 5083 which really must be pressed with a radius bar to prevent cracking.

For each grade there is a scale of temper from minimum to maximum.....it can play havoc when jig bending custom extrusions and the temper is not the same as the last batch and becomes unusable.
