Few bad chineae heads on the market. Heard some spanish ones are good. Best to stay genuine.

You can use a block of black gunk that you add to the water system and it will seal up the cracks in the head. Sounds dodgy but I know of a truck thats done 60,000kms so far and all is good. Could be a bandaid fix until the finances are more suitable. Do you want me to find out the name of it etc?

Castings very poorly made. Head stud holes incorrect (don't even line up), Glowplug holes not threaded and/or in incorrect position and wrong angles. Incorrect valve sizes and shocking ports.
Plus they don't last very long. We've seen many many fail within a very short time ending up with a much higher bill for the customer. Nothing on the cheap heads can be reused. Nothing is compatible with genuine parts. And warranties offered not worth the paper they're printed on.

that would be awesome if you could. Might certainly help out, esp over the holdiays at least. The garage recommended some stuff called........... errrrrrr rislone head gasket fix.

on top of it all. I've just noticed a reasonable oil stain on the driveway that wasn't there yesterday :-(

You must see all the shitters.
There are some shit ones but they usually have a price tag of under $600

Fitted 15+ after market heads yet to have one with the above faults
    But may do one day,

Toyota wanted 4500 for a head for my 1hdt and didnt have any.
Got an aftermarket out of aus for 1800 and when it turned up it was a genuine part. Turns out toyota didnt sell many at 4500 bucks so sold all stock to an aftermarket supplyer preasumably for a lot less.
    Good one Toyota.

Had a quote come back for 3600 for head replacement including gst. Does that sound reasonable?

    Cheers
