    Saltaway wash for outboards

Just had my outboard serviced and was told by the mechanic NOT to use Saltaway as it was manufactured originally for cleaning scale from boilers and does the outboard no good. Has anyone else heard this. Came from a Honda Dealership.

Saltaway always worked great for me. No salt or scale buildup.

I've always used Saltaway. The mechanic said when he checked the impellors and thermostats there was some build up of crap etc and asked if I'd used Saltaway, and came up with the made for boiler scale etc, not for outboards. This was a different Service outfit than I normally go to as the previous one has lost the Honda warranty and service rights.

Funny thing is, the shit in boilers, is exactly what you're seeing in the outboard! Hence why you test for chorides.
Use it in your jug and it gets rid of all the scale too

It's the right thing to use...
