    Awesome mate

    This worked perfectly.

I now have all these files operating on my Garmin Rino GPS.

Can't wait to show my way point to the "Know All Bastard" who insisted we were outside the DOC Boundries

    Seems he's 300m out.

Now just have to figure out the same on Google Earth on the iPad .

    Cheers

Have another issue which I'm hoping you may be able to help with.

I cant download the DOC boundaries from

    https://koordinates.com/search/?q=doc+boundaries

As the file size is bigger than the 40mb limit allowed.

On my laptop I downloaded the DOC boundaries in four different KMZ files for google earth

    They are
Top of the North Island DOC Boundaries
Bottom of the North Island DOC Boundaries
Top of the South Island DOC Boundaries
Bottom of the South Island DOCX Boundaries

I'm sure I got links for each of these KMZ from a thread on this site but cant seem to find the thread.

    Any Ideas where to look?

    Cheers
    Pete

Screw koordinates' download limit. You can get the data straight from DOC's servers.

    ftp://public:public@ftp.doc.govt.nz/Public/GIS/

    Bloody Awesome.

Have downloaded the KMZ I wanted and saved to my one drive.

Now I have to get them onto Google Earth running on my IPad.

    Cheers

The boundary file(s) are too big to run in the google earth app on the tablet, which is why I created the smaller file last night.

PM me if you like if you need something specific.

Ok, got that, really appreciate your help and patience @stretch

I have managed to get the kmz files I'm interested in into my Dropbox which is available on my iPad

Apart from the large boundaries file

How would I load a much smaller kmz like DOC Marine Reserves onto the Google Earth app on my iPad?

    Cheers

Not sure what the interface is like in Google Earth on an iPad, as I have an Android tablet, but this is what I do:
    1. Download the kmz file from ftp://ftp.doc.govt.nz/Public/GIS/KMZ..._GIS_Software/ (if prompted for a user name / password, it is public/public)
    2. Upload same file to my Google Drive account. This is where I am sharing the GPX and Garmin map files from, in my first post in this thread. It must be Google Drive and not One Drive or Dropbox or any other "cloud storage".
    3. Open Google Earth on your tablet. Remember, these screenshots are on an Android tablet, so your interface may be different:
    3a. Select Google Drive:

3b. Select the file you want to view. Must be .kmz or .kml file extension. Use the three dots I the top right corner to sort by latest files if you can't find your newly uploaded file for some reason. Click on the file name, then choose 'Select'.

3c. File will load if it's not too big. It will spit an error at you if it fails.

3d. Done. Kapiti Island Marine Reserve.

I use complicated software to do that, but there are a variety of methods. For small jobs, http://www.gpsvisualizer.com usually works, and is quite versatile.

    1. Go to http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert...ert_format=gpx
    2. Upload your marine reserves kmz file downloaded from the DOC FTP site.
    3. Hit 'Convert'.
    4. Save the resulting .gpx file and transfer it to your GPS. The outlines of the areas in the kmz file will become tracks on your GPS.

    Once again bloody awesome

I easily loaded the Doc Huts, Tracks, Campsites and Marine Reserves.

Just downloaded the kmz file using my iPad and the link you provided then selected Open in Google Earth.

Tried this with the hunting areas kmz and got the message Google Earth is running low on memory.

Closed Google Earth and reopened but non of the kmz have remained.

Will try again without downloading the open hunting area kmz

    Cheers

The full hunting areas one is too big at 28MB or so. This one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2M...w?usp=drivesdk is the smaller version I made last night - the red areas in the screenshot a few posts back. What area do you need covered?

Once again thanks for your help.

Unfortunately it seems these bloody apple products have beaten me.

I am able to open the kmz files from the DOC servers and view them with the Google earth app however I can't figure out how retain them within the Google earth app for repeated viewings.

And as discovered I cannot load the doc boundries kmz to the iPad app, however they are working perfectly on my laptop and my Garmin Rino GPS.

Guess I need a teenage Apple geek to help me figure this one out.

    Cheers
