    cKc Knives are custom made by a dude called Kylie known as "knivesandstuff" on youtube.
    I have been trying to get hold of one of his knives for ages however it's only a hobby to him and he only makes small batches. All custom made and all to very high standards.

    Cool, whats that bone handled job, is it carbon or stainless??

    Looking at a mates svord pig sticker the other day got me thinking, thinking that i had to have one, so have ordered one but with a micarter handle, have to wait for the blanks to be made again so will post up some pics when i get it

    Made this one a couple years ago out of an old Green River blade. I had to grind the handle to a new shape, then rivited walnut and rosewood to make the handle. I've made a sheaf for it too, but don't have a pic of that at the mo.

    Very nice. It would be an excellent venison knife as well. I dont know how some people can muck about with a blade any less than 6 inches dressing out deer and the like for the hook. Small blades are too slow and frustrating for me.

    heres one i made a couple of years back in a fit of boredom at work...blade is an old surface planer (buzzer) knife that had lost its mate at some stage timbers are matai kauri jarrah (for a bit of contrast) and the outer fillet is off an old old rosebush burl Attachment 1508Attachment 1509Attachment 1514Attachment 1515Attachment 1516 have done a couple more since and have another on the go at mo but work is flatout at mo so no time for it

    If you don't mind me asking, did you pay much extra for the micarter handle? Looks good.

    A mate and I re-finished/modified one of my Svords today.

    - rounded the blade to more of a droppoint.

    - Sanded back the varnish, leveled out the brass pins/bolster/Mahogany scales which were crudely done and rubbed the handle with boiled linseed oil instead (personally preference).

    if you dont mind me asking? what you pay for it? then to have to change it all?

    some of those photos make it look crap since they are dear knifes

    but hey i just have grebers knifes 3 of an they have always got the guts an skinn out an off like any knife would

    Thats exactly why I wrote to Mr. Baker, the finish if this knife was very crude. For $185 I would of expected a lot more.

    I liked the overall length and the steel, but I did not like the varnish and/or handle finish. Once I used it I found I didn't like the tip how it was, so I/we modified it slightly.

    Mr Bakers response.

    Thank you for your comments, Svord knife production has changed over the years, particularly in the last 12 months in order to gain a share of the US market at sensitive retail price points . I had to dramatically re think production and decide which market would grow the brand, bearing in mind Svord has saturated the NZ market over the last 30+ years. What has not changed is the steel and heat treatment quality.

    Svord knives are compared to high end Japanese hand forged knives that start at $700US and coarse ground blades and simple bamboo handles, but the best and most expensive steel, Svord is also comparable to the best scandinavian hunting knives that still have the hammer forging marks and scale on the blades and simple birchwood handles. Both of these type of knives rust easily and some would say crudely finished.

    There is a Finnish saying "the unessential is detrimental'' it is unessential to the knifes performance to be finished like an iphone, what is important is ease of sharpening, and being able to cut up a deer in 30 minutes instead of 1 1/2 hours ,and lifetime guarantee against breakage. We still offer on request a higher spec finish with hand rubbed and oiled exotic wood, but price is $225, thus being over the magic $199 price point.

    You are welcome to take the knife back to were you brought it from for a refund, tell them i said so.
    At the end of the day it does everything a knife should. But, I've got plenty of knives that will do that too... but wanted something a bit different/safer (guarded bolster). My next one, I will make myself.

    Alpinehunter thats a good looking wee knife, the handle came up good

    Raging bull, the micarter was $25 extra,total $221 incl post, i rang Mr Baker and ordered through him
    Your knife came up looking good, will look even beter with a few years use

    I also have an economy boning knife, i think the timber handled knives are all coated heavily with varnish to protect them from rust, they do clean up well

    Svord also do a more affordable range with plastic handles, you can get the pig sticker like mine for $89 on trademe, they are called 'Kiwi knives'

    Got a slimline skinner coming from Darren at Zedteq (forum sponser) looking forward to getting it and putting it to good use next week skinning out my trophy bull tahr cape...
