CASIO rangeman is in the lead at the moment. Though I don't like the negative display (white numbers on black background), and they don't seem to do a normal display in olive green just for the black with red highlights.

Have the new Gshock Mudman and its the absolute business!!!! Solar powered, has compass, moon, temp as well as all the other usual functions. All work very accurate provided you've set it up correctly to start with and is calibrated....ie set up to begin with. Solar power and compass functions were the main pull for me as when getting to the bail i got sick of having to constantly stop to check the gps. Now just pick a route and hold my baring with the compass and am away. Very happy wtih it, super durible. Love the moon function. Would be cool if it included the tide and barometer functions too, though they are avaliable in the next models up of Gshocks i just don't like the size and look of the current ones on offer at this stage. May look at an upgrade in the future if they put some out to specs im interested in.

Also have a Gshock Gulfman model and its awsome too. The one i've got is battery powered with tide and moon functions. Both spot on accurate and very handy for fishing and diving. This one is the older model, not solar powered and doens't have some of the other extras that the newer ones have.

I never leave home for the bush without the mudman!

Anyone try the Tissot Android watches?

A digital watch is a shit compass, one with hands works fine. I once taught a cub group bushcraft and navigation the using a watch as a compass bit made me realise how few analogue watches are worn today. Then there were the kids who used a mobile to tell the time!

Ok folks I went for the rangeman, happy with it so far but has anyone worked out how to turn off the auto light? When you tilt the watch (rotate wrist) the light comes on, lost 1/3 of battery overnight, will be taking it off to sleep now but any ideas? Can change from 1 to 3 but no difference. Though I did leave the watch on the barometer overnight so that didn't help as it constantly checking pressure I believe.

Also followed their instructions on turning off the update... Didn't work with or without the power saver mode on.

Look at the back and find the movement model (four digits in a rectangle). Download the manual and follow the instructions to turn it off.

Bro take it off and leave it in the window facing the sun for a day. After doing that, mine has never dipped off full battery. You will find as you play with it less (just like your willy) it will last a bit longer
