    Letter to game

At the end of gamebird season a letter must go out to the birds informing them. Dogs have pointed pheasant on the hill behind my house, haven't been any around since early in the year. Also they pointed quail at the river side which I haven't seen in the area for about same amount of time. I bet if I went to my usual hunting spots I'd be tripping over them now.

I don't hunt ducks but did notice in the season every morning at first light ducks flying over work from the wetlands into town.
    Not stupid.

I have a very small front yard.... probably enough for 3 parking spots....
Out of all the places in Auckland 2 ducks come and sit on my stairs when I leave for work....
Here is a pic... my nephew (only 2) gets out with some bread slices on a regular basis now.... I'm slowly brainwashing him, hopefully I'll manage to make him an outdoors addict.

be careful feeding the birds, I arrived back at work yesterday in time to see the apprentices lunch bag (still containing his unopened lunch) departing in the company of 4 seagulls. Funny as all hell

I had a big fat rooster on my lawn on Tuesday, tried to take a photo but he flew off (little screen digital not easy to aim).

I had a Weka wander across the lawn on Saturday in the rain. On Monday I was practising tracking up the hill with the young GSP and neighbour said "she won't hurt that Weka will she?" I said no the Weka won't be up there, and later thought about the 12 ducklings last year in the ditch by his place that were gone within a week. Don't worry about what his & others cats are doing.

taking the gsp for a run the other night he ran right past a cock pheasant.
didnt even look or smell him he had to check hi s emails at the twitter lampost and grass facebook
after the important stuff was done the scent must have drifted from the huge distance of 15 feet and while still leaving his message he humpes forward on point.
the purists would be apalled but in the dog world like ours finding out what you mates are upto seems more important than the bird right in front of you
