    Upland numbers

Arrived in the Far Nth on Saturday for the last week of school holidays and went for a recky of my upland grounds, spent 1/2 hr driving the forestry roads checking on what areas would be suitable to run the dog on and seen 10 cock birds from the road. Seen 2 cock birds on the track to my dried up duck pond across from my house and heard atleast 2 calling from the pond im shooting opening.

i seen 2 last night. One lost its nerve 2 ft from the dog on point and buggered off at a great rate of knots, so did the dog thru a barbed wire fence looked like it might have been a trip to the vet but luckily not. seen a boy and girl pheasant tonight too. Pity all were in places where you cant shoot
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

A lot of juveniles here, must have been late hatchings
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

You are soooo lucky being able to hunt them but now it appears soooooooooo unlucky too. All the best for next week.
