    Shimano stella spools

I currently have a Stella 10000SW on my stick bait set and thinking about using it for bronzies off the beach. I don't really want to use the current braid/spool as i want to keep it solely for the kings, so i am wondering if anyone knows of a half decent aftermarket spool to use on a Stella? That way i can spool it up with some cheap whiplash or something and not worry about trashing the line. I have looked into the Shimano ones but man the price was a steep.

So any suggestions or should i just splash out on the Stella spool?

    Cheers
    Nick

I don't think you can get after market spools for reels (I have not seen them) what are they wanting to root ya for a spare spool for it. I know last time I checked for my penn 850 as I want to get a spare spool for that it was going to run me around $55 for one through Phill at tackle tactics actually get hold of him through his message board as he does sell some shimano gear and he may be able to find you a price on one.

Cheers mate, will give them a shout tomorrow.

I found these spools here, but they are still not cheap. Not sure what they would come into the country at but will consider all my options.

Or another alternative is to buy another reel like the new series penn spinfisher 10000 friggin big reel with heaps of drag and capacity for what you want and let it rip with the bronzies

Time to put on the tinfoil hat ready for the ear bashing for suggesting penn

fair enough on wanting to use the stella I like both shimano and penn reels so when I wanted a new surfcasting reel I could not make up my bloody mind what to get so I wound up with the penn 850ssm and the shimano aerlex 8000 I probably use the penn more than the shimano unless I take both of my surfcasters out which I normally do when heading for the east coast.

Get the JM 16000 spool, or look at SOM. Both available from yeehaa in Auckland. The Jm spool is about 1/2 the $ of a shimano spool but it holds more line and drag is better
