Ahhh, back when there were more U.S. military aircraft manufacturers than Lockeed Martin, Boeing and Raytheon...

Did you guys ever play those Trump cards as a kid? Think they were manufactured by a company called Dunbar. I had the aircraft, ships and something else... You'd call out say "capacity" or "speed" or whatever and then whoever lost surrendered their card.

I remember seeing the A10, manufacturer: Fairchild Republic; Role: Infantry support and wondering "what do babies need an aeroplane for"?

Went over to Rangitata with a mate on the weekend to have a nosey at his new toy and watch him get some more solo time in with circuits and touch/go before he gets his clearance and can haul a passenger too.

Blue/Black one is his one.. soon to be making a racket around the neighbourhood.

Had a nice surprise when he sent me up for 15 mins in his microlight with the instructor. First time in a fixed wing in a long time, and never anything that small before.. Even got 10 minutes or so of stick time. Very new experience for me..

During a trip to the States in 2013, spent 10 days in NYC (missus desire to see Times Square, Broadway, etc).
There's an Essex class carrier, tied up on a pier near 12th Street, that has four of my all-time favourite aeroplanes.
    SR-71, Phantom, F-18 and Concord.
In the hangar space is the Enterprise - of the space resup., vehicles.
Spent a 1/2 day there - could've spent 2-3 days just looking at these four.
Israeli Mirage, F-111 - the list goes on.
On the opposite side of the pier (wharf), was an early Nuclear Sub - decommissioned of course - that was about 5 times bigger than a WWII sub.
    Magical visit.
