    But windows is so slow at finding an downloading drivers. A shed load faster to do it my way. Then I can get onto reloading all the applications, data, set up, ....

    Can't do a restore on it you can't get that far when you start it up you just get a black screen with a thing at the top saying it needs drive installed or something like that you push the ESC button a few times and it looks like a diagnostic thing where you choose what to want it to test when you try and test stuff it says it has no memory bloody things got dementia

    You may be pressing the esc key to late.
    Try holding it down as soon as you power on.

    I think I've tried that to is that the bois or BIOS thing nothing seems to work on that thing as well

    Ah well , worth a shot.
    Get a cheap hard drive.
    Maybe someone on here has a second hand one that works.
    Even better if some one could send you one with windows pre-installed.

    I was going to try a hard drive pb has new one that has been removed from a computer for 40$

    Sweet, I've never had any issues with pbtech.
    They are my goto for pc parts.
    Easy to order, quick to deliver.

    Good to know havnt really played with this kind of stuff before I'll probably take the old one in to them so I get the right one

    Ok thank you I was told to download Windows onto a rebootable USB if that makes any sense haven't got that far yet tho

    Does the laptop have a cd/DVD drive? If so, find a Windows 7 DVD. Making a bootable USB stick is a whole other level of fucking around, plus you'll probably need to edit your boot settings in bios to allow booting from USB.

    Very easy to make a bootable USB and easier and more reliable to boot off than a DVD.

    The hard drive will more than likely be a standard 2.5 inch SATA. They are all interchangeable.

    I think its got a DVD player I've never used this lap top so not sure just don't want to throw it out
