    Pies

So what's the thinking on what a good pie is?
Me, steak and mushroom, crisp but not shattering pastry on top, firm buttery pastry on bottom, warm or even hot but not so hot to burn lips/ tongue, thick gravy to hold it together, NO PEAS, chunks of meat big enough to hold together but not to big that you have to bite in half or they dry, mushrooms also sized well.. ...

And yes I do like tomato sauce on them......
P38, veitnamcam, Dundee and 1 others like this.
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

The Hokitika theater cafe makes the best pies I have ever bought hands down. Every ozzy that I know that has tried one, hate to admit it, but say the same.

They are huge delicious and have a great selection.

My besty makes the best pie I have eaten. Made from chamoose.

The better halfs venison pie with cream cheese, and home made red grape sauce, followed by the Fairlie bakehouse porkbelly pie.

    They're a sit-down pie though, not a walking pie. Over-stuffed.

Spoilt for choice for good pies in Hoki between the Regent, Clocktower, Cafe 39. Shame the Friday bakery closed, that chicken, apricot & cream cheese was a real winner

Clocktower Steak, Bacon and Cheese is a standard breakfast. All 3 food groups. The Hot Pie Lady down in Harihari does a decent pie too
