similar here, it was something like $35 Auckland to the Taupo at the counter of Fastways in Penrose

is there anything odd about the dimensions or the weight?

Cost me $42 to send my old Remington a couple of months back. Hmm

Someone is pulling your leg, or they've mistakenly tagged it as DG or hit an extra digit in the dimensions etc?

That's shocking, sorry to hear. Can't afford that sort of service.. Especially when dealing with firearms.

Can you get them to require pick up from a depot? If your sending it to yourself ( inter island) would you need the form? Would there be any drama's as a last minute extra bag on Air NZ?

It's a fair hike from Cambridge to Penrose, @stretch. An easier solution might be to sort the police paperwork, then package it so it doesn't look too much like a firearm Then call someone who has a depot in Hamilton, like Toll or Ipec, or NZ Couriers, and arrange door -to door delivery. Toll are not robbers, Ipec is Toll's parcel service, and NZ Couriers are pretty good, too. Roadstar also have a depot in Hamilton and I'm pretty sure they also do door-to-door.

Yes, @hotsoup's profile says he's Cambridge-based, but his question was about shipping a rifle from Auckland to Chch.

Correct, my week is split between both. The sooner I'm permanently based in Cambridge the better!
