balistic tip vs soft point on deer 7mm-08

Hello im sure there is heaps of threads on this but the search didnt let me find any haha.

Ive been trying some different ammo at targets only so far and have heard alot of mixed views on balistic tip vs soft point ammo. The country i shoot in with my 7mm-08 is shots ranging from 50-200 and just wondering what kind of ammo you guys prefer for deer? And also if any of you guys use a more espensive ammo sight it in to that then use a cheaper ammo for less important things e.g. billy goats hah. Cheers

There are so many difernt types and types of construction that you really cant generalise and say pointy do this and lead tip do that.

However in the same bullet eg hornady interlock and sst( same bullet one lead tip one plastic) the plastic tip makes them more explody or open faster, this can be good and bad but at longish ranges it is generally good and at bush ranges sometimes bad.

Cheers guys ive tried some remington core loct winchester super x and im going to try some winchester balistic silvertips today. I was hoping to try some hornady sst ammo but no where had it in stock. Seemed to be a bit of a shortage. And do any of you guys import ammo? Or is that more hassle than its worth?

Just use whichever one of those shoots well in your rifle, Corelokt's would be my pick if they shoot under an inch & half.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

Can get better ammo tuned to your rifle by reloading yourself.

And the way to sort that little issue is too wait till the borrower has better stuff that you want and do unto them.

I shoot 140gr Ballistic Tips in my 7/08 @2740 fps.

I've never had any issues at all and have taken game from 5-500 yards with them. I've even shot steel out to 800 yards in perfect conditions.

I also use 140gr Accubonds for Sambar .

Thankyou for offer mikee oh yea sweet pop shot. I have seen people say something about not as good blood trials is that due to the bullet not passing right through the animal?

Don't need a blood trail when you drop them on the spot

Nah - I've never noticed a lack of blood trail esepcially at the speeds I drive them at.
