Bruce Rifle Club Service Rifle Competition 2013

At last, the shoot we've been waiting the past 12 months for is upon us again!

The date for the 2013 BRC SRC is 27 October 2013.

While we are not accepting formal registrations just yet, please feel free to get in touch with the Match Director, or PM me to register your interest or for more info.. MDs details are available by visiting the website. BRCSRC .

Bruce Rifle Club is on Narrowdale Road, Milton, Otago.

Shoot format and Course of Fire is to be similar to previous two SRCs, but there is to be a fifth event this year.
    Range 200m, 40-50 rnds. Fig 12 targets.

Three classes, five matches with a trophy up for grabs in each Class; Bolt action Open Sight, MSSA Open Sight, MSSA Optical Sight. All rifles to be in as issued configuration and ammo to be milsurp or hand loads to replicate the standard military round.

Entry fee is $15 and you can enter as many classes as you like. Loan rifles available upon request.

We again will have food and drinks available, at modest cost.

We run this shoot as a bit of a get-together and a way of promoting service rifle shooting in general and our regular SR activities at the BRC in particular.

100% of the profit from this shoot goes towards the cost of range improvements, which only ever seem to increase annually. The profits from the last two SRCs have gone towards refurbishing the 200m mound - which will look quite different from this time last year.

Keep an eye on the website mentioned above for more details in the coming weeks.... BRCSRC

That's cool. There's always next year, and the website will be updated by the Club Captain (me) soon to show the dates of our regular Club Service Rifle shoots.

Here's a few photos from last years shoot to entice you even further..

Do you guys shoot service rifle more than once per year? I'm a Dunedin local but work in Oz a lot of the year. Always meant to join BRC but never got around to it

We sure do, maybe have 5-10 a year, and our 'big' Service Rifle competition each October.

We try to spread our organised Club Shoots across the three main disciplines we shoot - Service Rifle, Hunting Rifle, and Long Range/F-Class (our President just got back from the World F-Class Champs in the US).

If you're interested in more about the Club, shoot me a PM and I'll email you the latest newsletter and some other info. New members are always welcome, especially if they shoot 'old army guns'!

Entries for the Service Rifle Competition are flowing in, but there are still a number of people who have indicated they are going to compete, but have yet to hand in an Entry Form.

No entries will be accepted after 21/10/13. There is space for a LOT of people to take part - we just need to know about it before the day.

Registering prior to the day of the shoot helps the organisers arrange squadding details, and determines how much food we buy for the BBQ…. The last two SRCs we’ve held have been great successes – let’s make this one the best yet. Please feel free to get in touch with Jay or I if you need any further information. Please read the rules on the website BRCSRC before choosing what rifle you will choose – especially when it comes to AR15 type rifles….

There's no Pheasant this far south unfortunately, but those hills are full of pigs, hares, and the odd goat.

Well, what a great day! Thanks to all who attended and made the day what it was.

Once I've waded through the 117 photos and three videos, I'll deliver a more comprehensive report.

In the meantime here's a photo of the winners with their trophies and tools, and one of the BRC Club Captain shooting his SKS with his legs crossed....
