    New to IPSC

    Over the past 12 months or so, I've joined the local pistol club, got my B endorsement and brought a CZ SP-01 (wickedly cool gun!).

    Now just starting to get into this IPSC stuff. Great fun and took the camera to the range tonight and filmed a little run round. Same course of fire, but done in two different ways.

    I stripped the gun a few days ago and now I have one sticking mag that isn't releasing well. Feels like it's rubbing on the inside of the rubber grip. will get it sorted by the weekend.

    It's a Sony Actioncam. recorded at 1080P and 60fps. Quite a large camera compared to some of the other that guys at the club have. Need to sort the mounting out a little better on a hat or something. This was the first time used with the pistol.

    What range were you shooting at? Looks familiar
    All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

    Make sure you haven't tightened the grip screws too much. They'll over travel into the mag well and hinder the mag dropping.

    Welcome to the fun

    You're on to it. Just backed the screws off a touch and all good again!

    @Uplandstalker, fun huh

    Tip for your transitions, try not to straighten your arms and then bring them up vertically. What you want to get to is having the slide and sights at eye level and then punch the gun out toward the target lightly. Helps you to pick up the sights earlier.

    On a simple side to side transition, try pull the pistol back a bit and then punch into next target. Very slight movement, but you want the final bit of travel to be forward toward the target rather than an abrupt stop of sideways motion.

    Hope that makes sense...

    Just want to note that at the end of the video, it was only my head that turned back toward the start line. My arm and pistol was still pointing within the required 90 degrees from the center line.

    @Uplandstalker

    Nice choice in pistol and good work with the pistol and the camera

    You'll quickly find IPSC is as addictive as Reloading.

    Cheers

    Some hints and tips.
    - As a RH shooter moving and shooting moving to your right will always be easier and faster than moving to your left. Your body will be on the correct side to shoot.
    - When the buzzer goes start moving. Minimise just standing there. Better to be creeping than not moving at all.
    - Before you shoot the stage, have it locked in your head exactly where all the targets are and where you will do mag changes. I.E memorise the stage.
    - If you have to run past a target, shot it on the way past rather than from further back. The faster that you can get to the end position that you engage the last target from, the better.
    - When engaging one or more targets around the side of cover always engage the target requiring the most movement first then hit the rest as you move back out.
    - Rather than running right up as close as you can to targets, they can often be seen from further back. Check where they can be seen from. It may surprise you. You may see 2-3 target from a single position. Minimise the movement you have to do. Pace it out to find the shortest route.
    - When moving between targets, if you are not shooting or bringing the gun up to start shooting, run holding the pistol in your strong hand with the pistol held high, right close in front of your face. When you are engage a target bring your left hand up and then push the gun out and fire.
    - Smooth is normally fast.
    - Mag changes are normally fastest done straight after your last shot before you hit the burners to get to the next shooting position. Running / moving at pace and doing mag changes is hard and slow.

    Good luck.
