    Have you got any G clamps hanging around the place...

    Guys, I would like to buy three or four secondhand G clamps (i.e not made in China) for my stickmaking ...the jaws need to be at least six inches ... even old rusty ones with the foot on the screw would be brilliant. If you have any please send me a pm ... would so appreciate any opportunity to buy ... thank you

    Thank you, Maca49 ... !!

    Sometimes Mother Nature does not give the hazel the straightest staff ... and clamping them between two lengths of timber, after steaming helps to restrain the stick from wanting to bend back ...

    Hi thejavelin, I steam the sticks over a large preserving pot ... hazel responds well to it ... I am saving up for a steam machine which will then be connected to a PVC pipe ... although in a way the steaming over the pot is just as good but takes a bit longer ... however, if the staff has a dog leg to it, you will never get the dog leg out of it not matter what you do ...

    Hi eeebees I have two F clamps one end of the F is fixed then the threaded part slides, has pins along the back to adjust width. Like flooring clamps They could be mounted on their back. About 300mm long max opening. I'll take photos tomorrow!

    Finished another stick tonight...antler with buffalo horn cap and collar on hazel shank ...

    Yep but short ones, you could mount vertical, sorry eeebees only worked a short time today and am now in Taupo. Have to sort Monday

    What about these @EeeBees ? They were my grandfathers and passed to me after my old man exited 25 years ago. I used them for the first time when I did my range project over Christmas and don't envisage using them again in the next couple of decades so it would be good if they got regular use. Of course you would have to give them back if I ever needed them, or marry me, or make me a stick, or cook me a meal ..... Oh fuck you can have them if you want.
