    Dog shipping

I need to get my stud dog to Auckland for a mating. Is there a safe/cost effective way to ship a dog?

    That's not what I asked.

I know what I'm doing. Just asking if there's a method for shipping a dog.

Mate used Pet Bus? to get his dog from NI to SI.
Worked out the slightly cheaper than sending on plane, and the dog was run and watered along the way. Much less stress.

Air New Zealand cargo...you can hire a crate from them; an AIRNZ compliant crate for your male if you were to buy one would be over the $200 mark...not sure about the crate hire price...you need to be at the airport an hour before departure.

That's the kind of crap you do that makes you so off putting. You have no idea what the situation is but you insist you know better than I do and interject your opinion when not asked.

    Any idea on cost?

I have the airline crates that my dogs were imported in so that's no issue.

No, sorry!! I was speaking to a guy sending a puppy to CHCH from Napier and it was $190 something direct flight... which is hardly any help to you.

Thanks I'll ring them tomorrow. The petbus place doesn't have anything going in time.

Between the UK and Ireland there are Greyhoundcourriers working. Proffesionel guys who travel greyhounds to racing courts, matings, ........ When I want to sent a dog to Ireland I travel up to the UK by car and drop him on one of these trucks. I travel 7/8 hours myself , through France , the tunnel and up in the UK .
Mayby look around in the greyhoundworld of NZ, that might also exist over there.

RC GSP I have just flown 2 pups. See here for info Pet Services - National Cargo - Company Information - Air New Zealand - New Zealand Site.

The 0800 number has the prices. It is $193 between islands up to 20Kg but I do not know the same island rate or the over Kgs rate.

I always try to get the dog to me when I want to mate my bitches. The travel and unfamilar routine can upset the cycle in some bitches and the dog seems to usually only have one thing on his mind whereever he is

    Good luck with the mating.
