    @gsp follower, how I know the pain...the things I think about are all the great things that Dog did, those memorable shooting trips up the river, our trialing experiences and all the rest...doesn't bring Dog back but some adventures certainly are enough to make you smile...one of the greatest comforts in all of these losses is getting a new puppy...not to be treated as a replacement, but a new hunting and home companion...

    yep we make them immortal in our memories of a great day together or something silly they did.
    its what nonhunters dont get .about our sport they think its all about the killing
    its far from that there are birds and dog moments i,l never forget. .
    and when we share those things like on here for instance we make them live forever.

    to be honest im in 2 minds i want to do him right but i dont want to see what will have become of him by now.

    been following this thread hoping that he was swept down stream and he turns up in the back yard days later,no such luck, what a shit thing to happen.feel for ya.
