    Red Seal Baking Soda Toothpaste for Dogs?

    Wondering if anyone knows off hand if its ok to use Red Seals baking soda based toothpaste for dogs?

    The ingredients is as follows:


    Purified water.
    Sodium Bicarbonate: Neutralises plaque acids.
    Calcium carbonate: Mild abrasive and polisher.
    Sorbitol: Sweetener and moistener.
    Glycerin: Vegetable-based sweetener and moistener.
    Sodium lauryl sulphate: Coconut-based foaming agent.
    Cellulose gum: Gumming agent sourced from plant fibre.
    Silica: Mild abrasive and thickener.
    Peppermint oil.
    Menthol.
    Eucalyptus oil.
    Aniseed oil.
    Sodium Saccharin: Sugar-free sweetener.
    Totarol: Antibacterial action.
    Pack size: 100 grams.

    That Red Seal stuff has no fluoride in it. Much better other sorts avail

    Lol....it'll be a first for me! One of the hounds is starting to need it so opting for the ounce of prevention, pound of cure approach to save some vet bills down the line.

    my mutt wont let me brush his teeth. i generally give him those dried pig ears as a treat and they loosen the tartar off his teeth. then again those teeth can bite thru anything. inc my bloody mountain bike !!! bad dog bad!!!

    Did it as a kid with our redsetter in the domain. Brushed her teeth till foam all over the place, then let her go and shouted look out mad dog, it was funny at the time. Oh and I used my sisters toothbrush.

    Our particular vet says no fluoride for dogs, BUT there are different opinions on that out there.

    Main argument against fluoride is that dogs swallow it, so get more fluoride into their systems. So a lower-fluoride toothpaste (never a standard human toothpaste) should be better for dogs.

    Also don't brush their teeth twice a day, year in year out. Neither does my apprentice though, but there ya go

    i thought id seen and done it all having to soap stick a constipated dog but i,l be buggered if im cleaning the huas teeth for them.
    fuck that thats what bones are for.

    my cocker spaniel sees a tooth brush (if he can see at all...plurry stuffed eyes) and runs.....gets rid of the dreaded "dog breath" for a few days but only do it every year or so if I see too much crap stuck in the gums...and yip use someone elses toothbrush makes it much more fun.
    soap stick!!!!! seen a drenchgun used for same purpose.... man did the old dog hop around before he finnally let rip!!!!
