This +1, they're always gone all too soon
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

mate. losing a pet is like losing a member of your family. its bloody awful but at the end of the day you have to tell yourself that you gave them a great life. in our case we rescued our bull terrier x dogo from a a real a--hole. he is 8 now and we have had him 6 1/2 years. a wonderful dog who i hope will stick with me for many years to come.
i have been off work now for 3 and a bit years having almost had my arm ripped off courtesy of some bastard builder who failed to repair a set of stairs properly. without my dog i would have lost the plot by now (not going loopy though). they sure are mans best friend. my condolences and i'm sure he had an awesome life

He was a mighty fine dog and I will always remember some of stories about him that you've shared with me (especially the one where he dragged the wounded deer off a slip face and the two of them tumbled into the river)

While I had the pleasure of hunting with you and Casper, I unfortunately didn't get to see him at his best.

As much as you taught Casper, he would have also taught you alot too, so part of him will live on in every dog you ever have moving forward.

I bet Casper was looking down on you on the weekend having a laugh about how long it took you to find that deer. But you did him proud.

RIP Casper, may you have a prime spot in front of the fire, and plenty of game up there to chase about.

VTR, I have already extended my condolences to you privately, but I have to acknowledge Caspar here and the wonderful job you did with him. Your first Deer Dog was a bloody cracker, full of "go" and you did a wonderful job with him. The things he taught you will live on in every dog you run from this day forward and in that way a piece of him will always be with you on every hunt. I had a lump in my throat when I heard he had gone in peace, and do now typing this... He was a lovely boy and everyone who met him will remember him well. Stay strong bro.

@GWH You have pretty much nailed it on the head. I missed him like crazy on Sunday. I shot a deer and spent 2 hours looking for it, was no more than a 15m radius from where I was. I only found it because that dog tought me to never give up, because that he did not! I am certian he was looking down having a good laugh at me, while also being by my side every step of the way!

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts team! Humbling to know so many of you care.
